Committees
Committee Members at Service in Unity help make the organization’s mission possible: supporting people in recovery by offering ways to serve, find jobs, and get involved in their communities. These members use their own experiences or professional knowledge to make sure the committee’s work supports dignity, inclusion, and unity.
Service in Unity builds its committees with a mix of people. Some have personal experience with recovery, involvement with the justice system, or community service. Others are experts in areas like nonprofit management, finance, law, or social services. This mix of backgrounds helps committees make decisions that are caring, fair, and effective. Governance Committee
The Governance Committee is responsible for ensuring the integrity, effectiveness, and legal compliance of Service in Unity’s board governance practices. This includes oversight of board structure, bylaws, policies, strategy, and performance. The committee also leads the board nomination and onboarding process, ensuring new members are prepared to fulfill their roles. While the committee manages onboarding and nominations, the board as a whole is responsible for identifying and recruiting prospective members. (Fix Later)
Fundraising Committee
The Fundraising Committee plays a vital role in supporting Service in Unity’s financial sustainability and community engagement. This committee is responsible for planning and executing fundraising initiatives, including events and the annual appeal, and works in close collaboration with staff and board leadership. Participant Impact Committee
The Participant Impact Committee at Service in Unity is dedicated to ensuring that the organization remains deeply connected to the needs, experiences, and outcomes of the individuals in recovery whom we employ and serve. This committee plays a critical role in guiding the organization’s efforts to maximize its impact on participants’ lives while upholding the values of dignity, empowerment, and community. Community Outreach Committee
The Community Outreach Committee at Service in Unity is important for helping the organization become better known in the community and grow opportunities for impact. This committee builds strong relationships with local groups and supports outreach activities. It works closely with staff on marketing, sales, and public events to make sure everyone is working toward the same goal: helping people in recovery by encouraging service and connection. The committee is also responsible for creating opportunities for staff employment, making it possible for more people to join the team and support the organization’s mission. (Can fix later)
